- ZocDoc comes to the Greater Houston area, bringing better access to doctorsPosted on: 2011-06-24ZocDoc launched in the Greater Houston area recently, bringing fast and convenient access to appointments with nearby doctors. That includes physicians in the Auburn Lakes area of Spring.
ZocDoc improves access to health care by allowing patients to find doctors, sort by location and insurance plan, read verified reviews and book appointments online at ZocDoc.com or via ZocDoc’s iPhone App. More than 240,000 appointments are available in the Greater Houston area via ZocDoc.
ZocDoc’s search service is offered at no charge to patients, who receive around-the-clock access to medical providers’ schedules and verified patient reviews of local doctors. Appointments with primary care physicians, obstetricians/gynecologists and dermatologists are available in the Auburn Lakes area and other parts of Houston now, and more specialties will be added soon.
A new patient booking an appointment for a routine physical from a Houston-area physician must wait 17 days on average, a study by national health care search and consulting firm Merritt Hawkins & Associates reported. However, 40 percent of all appointments scheduled by ZocDoc users occur within 24 hours and more than 60 percent of users secure appointments within 72 hours.
“ZocDoc helps residents of the Houston area receive the fast, convenient health care they deserve,” said Cyrus Massoumi, ZocDoc CEO and founder.
ZocDoc’s service also is available in New York, Chicago, Dallas-Fort Worth, Los Angeles, San Francisco, Philadelphia and Washington, D.C. There are more than 4.5 million appointments available nationwide.

January 10, 2011
The Klein Independent School District has purchased an 18-acre school site in Auburn Lakes, with plans to open a new elementary school inside the community.
The school site is located at the northwest corner of West Rayford Rd. and Gosling Rd., at the eastern edge of the 500-acre master plan for Auburn Lakes. Klein ISD purchased the site from Peramco, Inc., developer of the community.
“The Klein school district is one of the most important advantages we can offer to residents of Auburn Lakes, and since the community first opened in 2001, it has been our dream to have an onsite elementary school here,” said Gonzalo Velaochaga, vice president of Peramco.
The school site is part of an overall 23-acre tract of land acquired by Peramco in late 2010. Contiguous to the original Auburn Lakes master plan, this site will also include proposed future residential and commercial development.
The elementary school site will be connected to homes and recreational amenities within Auburn Lakes via the wide, landscaped greenbelt trail system that meanders along West Rayford and radiates into neighborhoods.
“When the elementary school opens and we see young students and their parents on their way to school on their bikes, it will be a wonderful sight to see – a significant milestone for the community and its residents,” said Velaochaga.
Currently, students living in Auburn Lakes attend Northhampton Elementary School, Hildebrandt Junior High School, and Klein Oak High School.
Northampton Elementary has earned the highest accreditation rating from the Texas Education Agency – Exemplary. Hildebrandt is TEA rated Recognized, and is one of the few middle schools in Texas to receive a distinguished Great Schools Rating of 8 out of 10. Klein Oak is a TEA Recognized school, and overall Klein ISD is a Recognized district.
